Carruades de Lafite 2011 – 75cl
$708 – $4,036
The climatology of the 2011 vintage was atypical and mobilized all the vigilance and know-how of our technical teams.
It was a very early vintage with a very hot spring, low rainfall at the start of the year, then more substantial in summer, and the persistent threat of powdery mildew (rather rare vine disease in the Bordeaux region).
Then, while the harvest was getting ready, a big hailstorm on the north of Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe, on September 1, somewhat upset the schedules. The plots affected were brought in first, without major damage given the earliness, the grapes were already very ripe!
TASTING NOTES (AT BOTTLING):
Greedy mouth, quite fleshy. Beautiful roundness, long wine. Notes of red fruits, tobacco. Aromas of coffee, tobacco and spices. The mouth is greedy, fleshy with well marked tannins. Nice roundness, long and elegant wine.
