Teeling Whiskey Distillery, founded in Dublin's Liberties in 2015 by the Teeling family, was the first new distillery to open in Dublin in 125 years — reviving the city's historic whiskey tradition with a genuinely innovative and quality-driven approach to Irish whiskey production. The Blackpitts is named after the historic Blackpitts area of Dublin's Liberties — once the location of one of Ireland's most important malt kilns. Teeling's first peated Irish single malt, using peated barley to create a style of Irish whiskey that is a genuine rarity in a country not known for smokiness. The peat character is warm and approachable rather than aggressively medicinal — the Irish distillation character pushing through the smoke in a distinctively accessible and characterful way. TASTING NOTES
BBQ Smoke, Cloves, Butterscotch and Orange Peel. Applewood Smoke, Honey, All Spice, Stewed Pears & Grilled Pineapple. Salted Caramel, Wood & Savory Smoke.
Nose: Barbeque smoke and cloves intermingled with fresh notes of butterscotch and orange peel.
Taste: Applewood smoke, honey and all-spice are married with stewed pears and fresh grilled pineapple.
Finish: Savoury smoke over a lingering wood undertone which combines delightfully with notes of salted caramel.
ABV 46%, triple distilled heavily peated malted barley, non-chill filtered.
