The meaning of Litha
The Celts called the summer solstice Litha, meaning light. The Macallan uses the solstice as the meeting of two forces, standing for Scotland and Spain coming together in the cask.
The whisky
New make spirit is filled into first-fill sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez and matured on The Macallan Estate. The casks give a deep gold colour and flavours of vanilla, berry compote and warming wood spice.
The release
Litha launched in August 2023, initially in China. Its presentation box carries an illustration by Sija Hong, a China-born illustrator based in the United States.
