The Liquid Collection stocks the full live Hibiki lineup available in Singapore — from the no-age-statement Hibiki Japanese Harmony through the aged Hibiki 21 Year Old and rotating limited editions like Hibiki Blossom Harmony and Hibiki Master's Select. Hibiki sits at the heart of our House of Suntory portfolio and our wider Japanese whisky range.

Every bottle ships free across Singapore with no minimum order. Browse the range above, or explore the component distilleries that make up Hibiki: Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita.

Hibiki — the art of harmony

Hibiki was launched in 1989 to mark Suntory's 90th anniversary. The brief given to Suntory's chief blender was to create a whisky that captured the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship — a whisky in which dozens of components, each made differently and aged in different casks, would resolve into a single seamless flavour. The name they chose was Hibiki (響), meaning resonance or harmony.

Behind every bottle is access to one of the most varied whisky inventories in the world. Suntory owns three distilleries — Yamazaki for sherried, Mizunara-touched malt; Hakushu for fresh, lightly smoky malt; and Chita for layered, refined grain whisky. Hibiki's blenders draw from all three, working with over thirty individual whiskies of different ages and cask types to assemble each expression. Few blends in the world are built from a wider palette.

How Hibiki is made

The blender's craft

Where single malt celebrates one place, blending celebrates judgement. The chief blender's job is to taste through hundreds of cask samples, hold their character in mind, and assemble combinations that produce something none of them could on their own. Suntory has only had a handful of chief blenders in its 100-year history — a discipline passed down master-to-apprentice, in the same way Yamazaki's distillation know-how has been.

Mizunara in the blend

Hibiki is one of the few major blends in the world that uses Mizunara-aged malt — Yamazaki's signature Japanese oak — as part of its recipe. The Mizunara component gives Hibiki its characteristic finish: sandalwood, kara incense, a faint coconut sweetness. It's a fingerprint that no Scotch blend can replicate, and a major reason Hibiki sits in a category of its own.

The 24-faceted bottle

The Hibiki bottle is one of the most recognisable in world whisky. Its 24 facets represent the 24 sekki — the divisions of the traditional Japanese lunar calendar, each marking a distinct moment in the seasonal year. The bottle is hand-finished and the label is made of echizen washi, a traditional Japanese paper made by craftspeople in Fukui Prefecture for over 1,500 years.

It's a bottle designed to be displayed. In Singapore and across Asia, Hibiki has become one of the most heavily gifted premium whiskies precisely because it carries this presentation weight on its own, without further packaging — though gift boxes are available for the higher expressions. See our wider gifts selection for presentation-ready options.

The Hibiki range

Hibiki Japanese Harmony The no-age-statement core expression. A blend of malts from Yamazaki and Hakushu and grain from Chita, drawn from five different cask types including Mizunara. Rose, lychee, white chocolate and orange peel. The defining everyday Hibiki.
Hibiki 21 Year Old The senior expression in the regular range. Long-aged malt and grain whiskies, deeply layered with sherry-cask richness, dried fruit, sandalwood and orange marmalade. Among the most awarded blended whiskies in the world. Allocation is tight.
Hibiki Blossom Harmony A limited release finished in Sakura (Japanese cherry tree) casks. Soft floral lift, subtle cherry-blossom delicacy over the core Hibiki Harmony profile. Released annually around spring.
Hibiki Master's Select / Suntory Whisky Hibiki The travel retail and restaurant-channel expressions. Slightly different recipes from Japanese Harmony, generally a touch sweeter and more orchard-fruit driven.
Hibiki 17 Year Old (discontinued) The original mid-aged Hibiki, discontinued by Suntory in 2018 due to constrained matured stock. Existing bottles trade at significant premium on the secondary market — see our Fine & Rare selection.
Hibiki 30 Year Old & rare editions The pinnacle of the Hibiki range, produced in extremely limited quantities for the world market. Hibiki 30 has won World's Best Blended Whisky multiple times. Reserved for serious collectors.

The Hibiki house style

Across the range, Hibiki is built around three things: floral aromatics, silken texture and a Mizunara-led finish. The nose typically opens with rose, lychee and orange peel; the palate flows with honey, white chocolate and candied citrus; and the finish carries the perfumed sandalwood and incense that comes from Yamazaki's Mizunara casks in the blend.

It is, by design, a whisky that suits the Japanese table. The Highball — Hibiki, chilled soda water and a single large ice cube — is the classic everyday serve and pairs beautifully with sashimi, tempura and yakitori. For the everyday Highball at scale, Suntory's Kakubin is the workhorse choice. The aged Hibiki expressions, by contrast, reward slow drinking neat from a tulip glass with a few drops of water.

Awards and global recognition

Hibiki has been one of the most decorated blended whiskies in the world for over two decades. Hibiki 21 Year Old was named World's Best Blended Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards multiple times across the 2010s, and the 30 Year Old has collected the same honour repeatedly. Hibiki Japanese Harmony has won gold and best-in-class at the International Spirits Challenge since its launch. The wider category recognition that has lifted Suntory's Yamazaki single malt and Suntory blends in general owes much to Hibiki's run at the top of the awards circuit.

A note on Hibiki availability

Hibiki has been affected — like the rest of Suntory's premium portfolio — by global allocation constraints driven by limited matured stock. Hibiki 17 Year Old was discontinued in 2018 and is no longer in production; existing bottles trade exclusively on the secondary market at significant premium. Hibiki 21 Year Old is still produced but in deliberately small quantities, with prices rising year on year. Hibiki Japanese Harmony remains in steady production and is the most consistently available expression in the range.

Confirmed stock and current pricing for every Hibiki expression we carry is shown on each individual product page.

Hibiki FAQ

What is Hibiki?

Hibiki is Suntory's premium blended Japanese whisky, first launched in 1989 to mark Suntory's 90th anniversary. It is a blend of malt whiskies from Yamazaki and Hakushu and grain whisky from Chita, brought together by Suntory's master blenders. The name "Hibiki" means "resonance" or "harmony" — and the whisky is built around the idea of balance between many components.

What is the difference between Hibiki and Yamazaki?

Yamazaki is a single malt — made entirely at the Yamazaki distillery from malted barley. Hibiki is a blend — built from over 30 different malt and grain whiskies sourced from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Yamazaki shows the character of one place; Hibiki shows the art of bringing many places into harmony.

Is Hibiki 17 still available?

Hibiki 17 Year Old was officially discontinued by Suntory in 2018 due to limited stocks of suitably aged whisky. Existing stock occasionally appears at auction or through specialist retailers at significant premium — see our Fine & Rare selection. Hibiki 21 Year Old is also produced in very limited quantities. We list current stock on each product page.

What does Hibiki taste like?

Hibiki Japanese Harmony, the entry expression, opens with rose, lychee and orange peel — soft, floral and fragrant. The palate is honeyed and silky with white chocolate, candied orange and a touch of Mizunara incense on the finish. Older expressions like Hibiki 21 add deeper sherry-cask richness, dried fruit and sandalwood, while keeping the trademark elegance.

What is the meaning of the 24-faceted bottle?

Hibiki's iconic bottle has 24 facets, representing the 24 sekki — the seasonal divisions of the traditional Japanese lunar calendar. Each facet is hand-finished. The design is meant to capture the passage of time, nature's rhythm, and the patience that goes into long maturation — all values that sit at the heart of Japanese whisky-making.

How should Hibiki be served?

Neat in a tulip glass is the way to experience Hibiki's full aromatic range, especially on the aged expressions. The Highball — Hibiki, soda water and a single large ice cube — is the classic Japanese everyday serve and pairs beautifully with sushi, sashimi and lighter cuisine. Hibiki Japanese Harmony makes an exceptional Highball; the older expressions are best appreciated neat or with a few drops of water.

Is Hibiki a good gift?

Hibiki is one of the most heavily gifted premium whiskies in Asia, particularly for senior business contacts and milestone occasions. The 24-faceted bottle and washi paper label are gift-ready as standard. Japanese Harmony is the classic gift bottle; the 21 Year Old is the considered statement; older limited editions are reserved for the most significant occasions. See our wider gifts selection.
