Frequently asked

What is the Contrasts series?
Benromach's experimental range exploring specific variables in whisky production — organic barley, air-dried vs kiln-dried oak, peat smoke, triple distillation, specific malt varieties, unpeated variants. Each release isolates one variable, allowing whisky enthusiasts to understand how specific choices impact final character. Educational and collector-focused series.

Why is organic Scotch rare?
Most Scotch uses commodity barley from conventional agriculture. Organic-certified barley requires specific supply chain and farming practices. Rare in Scotch category. Benromach Organic uses 100% organic barley for the entire whisky production.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE

Sweet vanilla and ripe fruits with citrus zest, toasted malt, green apples, banana, caramel, brown sugar, and a powerfully oaky freshness from the virgin American oak — vibrant, clean, and entirely smoke-free.

PALATE

Creamy with soft pepper and butterscotch — freshly ground coffee develops alongside dried banana, ripe fruits, creamy honey, raisin, milk chocolate, and a gentle herbal edge — smooth and mellow with a lively, spice-driven warmth.

FINISH

Medium-bodied and long — aniseed, cocoa powder, and peppery oak warmth fading with a clean, satisfying dryness — a beautifully structured and thoroughly distinctive close.
