Auchentoshan 21 Year Old is a triple-distilled Lowland single malt aged for at least 21 years in a combination of American ex-bourbon and Spanish oloroso sherry casks at the Auchentoshan distillery just north of Glasgow. Bottled at 43% ABV.
Founded in 1823, Auchentoshan is one of the only working Lowland distilleries and the only one in Scotland still using full triple distillation. Two decades of maturation deepens the bright triple-distilled character into rich, layered territory.
A serious collector's sipping Lowland malt — best enjoyed neat in a copita.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Opulent and aromatic — caramelised dried fruit, ripe orchard fruit, vanilla, dark caramel, gentle baking spice, leather, and polished oak — luxurious and beautifully matured.
PALATE
Velvety and rich — caramelised dried fruit, honeyed orchard fruit, vanilla cream, dark toffee, dried apricot, gentle leather, and integrated oak — silky, layered, and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Exceptionally long — lingering dried fruit, vanilla, soft caramel, gentle spice, and a warming oak depth fading gracefully — refined, contemplative, and beautifully composed.
