BenRiach The Smoky Ten is a 10-year-old peated Speyside single malt — a rare style for the region — matured in a trio of bourbon barrels, Jamaican rum casks, and toasted virgin oak. without chill-filtration.
BenRiach has produced peated whisky on and off since the 1970s, making it one of the few Speyside distilleries with a serious peated tradition. The rum-cask influence brings tropical sweetness that contrasts beautifully with the gentle smoke.
A distinctive Speyside expression for those who appreciate peat without the heavy maritime character of Islay — neat or with a drop of water to open up the layered profile.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Aromatic and complex — gentle wood smoke, ripe banana, mango, honey, vanilla, soft pineapple, and a wisp of charred oak — distinctive and beautifully layered.
PALATE
Smooth and tropical — sweet smoke, banana bread, mango, honey, vanilla cream, soft toffee, and a gentle peppery warmth — rich, layered, and well-integrated.
FINISH
Medium-long and warmly smoked — lingering tropical fruit, soft smoke, vanilla, and a gentle oak warmth fading slowly — distinctive and elegantly composed.
