BenRiach
BenRiach was founded in 1898 by John Duff on the old Riach farm in northern Speyside. Since the early 1970s it has also made peated spirit, unusual for the region. Owned by Brown-Forman since 2016, its whiskies are created by Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie.
The whisky
The Smoky Ten marries peated and unpeated spirit matured for at least ten years in three casks: bourbon barrels, Jamaican rum casks and toasted virgin oak. The result is smooth layers of ripe fruit, smoke and oak spice, with a balanced sweet and smoky finish and a bright gold colour.
How to enjoy it
Try it neat, then with a little water. The smoke and fruit make it a good Highball with soda, and it pairs well with smoked salmon or grilled meats.

Aromatic and complex — gentle wood smoke, ripe banana, mango, honey, vanilla, soft pineapple, and a wisp of charred oak — distinctive and beautifully layered.
PALATE
Smooth and tropical — sweet smoke, banana bread, mango, honey, vanilla cream, soft toffee, and a gentle peppery warmth — rich, layered, and well-integrated.
FINISH
Medium-long and warmly smoked — lingering tropical fruit, soft smoke, vanilla, and a gentle oak warmth fading slowly — distinctive and elegantly composed.
