BenRiach
BenRiach was founded in 1898 by John Duff on the old Riach farm in northern Speyside. Since the early 1970s it has also made peated spirit, unusual for the region. Owned by Brown-Forman since 2016, its whiskies are created by Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie.
The whisky
The Twelve is matured for at least 12 years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels and port casks, and the three are then brought together. BenRiach describes it as a smooth, sherry-rich single malt with fruit, maple and cocoa, balanced by a sultana and mocha finish. The colour is golden bronze.
