Fettercairn was founded in 1824 — one of the first distilleries to receive a licence following the Excise Act — in the village of Fettercairn in Aberdeenshire, where it has been producing whisky on the eastern slopes of the Cairngorms ever since. Owned by Whyte & Mackay, the distillery is best known for its unique "Halo" cooling system on the neck of its spirit stills, where cold water runs down the outside of the still neck and collar to create a distinctive reflux effect — a technical innovation that gives Fettercairn its characteristic light, clean, fruit-forward spirit. The 12 Year Old is the entry point to the range, with natural colour, and delivering the distillery's signature tropical fruit, vanilla, and toffee character in its most accessible form.
