Foursquare 16 Year Old Magisterium Rum - 70cl
Magisterium (“Mastery”) is the twenty-sixth release in Foursquare’s acclaimed Exceptional Cask Selection (ECS) series. This rare single blended rum is composed of three distinct 16-year-old rums, distilled in both the copper double-retort pot still and the twin column Coffey still at Foursquare Rum Distillery, Barbados.
Two components underwent double maturation in ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks:
• 3 years Bourbon + 13 years Oloroso Sherry
• 9 years Bourbon + 7 years Oloroso Sherry
The third component was matured entirely in ex-Bourbon casks for the full 16 years.
All ageing, blending, and bottling occur on site under the direction of Richard Seale, 4th generation distiller of R.L. Seale & Co. (116 proof), Magisterium is non-chill filtered, additive-free, and released only in limited quantities.
A benchmark of mastery in blending and maturation, Magisterium (Mark XXVI) is one of the most sophisticated ECS releases to date, and a testament to Foursquare’s craftsmanship.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Caramelised orange peel, unlit Maduro cigar, toasted coconut, passionfruit, candied almonds, nougat, cedar, and sea breeze.
PALATE
Elegant and savoury; cigar box, hazelnut, dark cocoa, orange zest, s’mores with lightly charred marshmallow, touches of fresh blueberry and nutty depth.
FINISH
Long, complex, and enticing, balancing richness with finesse.
