The Grand Series
Glenfiddich was founded in 1887 by William Grant in Dufftown, in the heart of Speyside, and is still owned by his family's company, William Grant & Sons. Grande Couronne, French for 'great crown', is the 26-year-old member of the Grand Series.
The whisky
After maturing in American and European oak, the whisky spends an extended two years in French Cognac casks. The long finish gives it an antique gold colour and a rich pastry and brown sugar sweetness.
How to enjoy it
Take it neat as an after-dinner dram. At 43.8% a few drops of water will open the pastry and fruit notes. It is best on its own or with something simple like roasted nuts.
