The Sample Room Collection
In 2022 The Glenlivet relaunched their 21 and 25 Year Old whiskies as The Sample Room Collection, each finished in a combination of wine and spirit casks. The 21 Year Old moved from the previous Archive recipe to a triple cask finish.
The whisky
After at least 21 years of maturation, the 21 Year Old is finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry, vintage Colheita port and Tronçais oak Cognac casks. The Cognac casks bring cinnamon and nutmeg, while the sherry and port add dried fruit and depth.
How to enjoy it
Serve neat in a tulip glass and allow time for the pear and peach to come through. A few drops of water open the spice. Enjoy it slowly after dinner, perhaps with dark chocolate or a fruit-based dessert.

No. The Archive was replaced in 2022 by this Sample Room Collection 21 Year Old, which has a triple cask finish in Oloroso sherry, Colheita port and Cognac casks.
What does the Cognac cask add?
The Tronçais oak Cognac casks contribute warm cinnamon and nutmeg spice, which sit alongside the pear, peach and dried fruit.
