Grand Marnier – 70cl
Created in 1880 in France, GRAND MARNIER was born from an innovative insight to blend this cognac with a rare variety of oranges from the Carribean. In those days, oranges were considered luxury items and were consumed mostly only on special occasions, such as Christmas. However, cognac connoisseur Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle dared to break conventions, and by combining the complexity and mellowness of cognac with the exoticism of distilled essence of orange, he developed the secret recipe to GRAND MARNIER that we still enjoy till this day.
TASTING NOTES
Blood oranges, lime zest, and orange juice bring the citrus on the nose, along with a floral bouquet and a hint of caramel. The palate is silky, with the spirituous cognac coming out alongside spicy oak, and both playing off the bitter-zesty orange base. The finish is short with a spicy flourish and bitter orange Champagne marmalade.
