Red Spot 15 Year Old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey - 70cl
Red Spot 15 Year Old is the most prestigious tier in the celebrated Mitchell & Son "Spot" range — a single pot still Irish whiskey aged for at least 15 years in a combination of American ex-bourbon, Spanish ex-sherry, and rare Sicilian Marsala wine casks. The triple-cask programme builds extraordinary layered complexity. Bottled at 46% ABV.
Red Spot was historically the oldest and rarest of the Spot range, identified by red paint on the casks. Bonded for Mitchell & Son, Dublin (1805). Produced at Irish Distillers' Midleton distillery in Cork.
A definitive luxury single pot still Irish whiskey — neat in a copita.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Opulent and aromatic — caramelised dried fruit, ripe orchard fruit, vanilla, dark caramel, gentle pot-still spice, soft toasted nuts, gentle baking spice, dried apricot, and warm multi-cask oak — luxurious and beautifully matured.
PALATE
Velvety and rich — caramelised dried fruit, honeyed orchard fruit, vanilla cream, dark toffee, gentle pot-still spice, soft toasted nuts, dried apricot, gentle leather, and integrated triple-cask oak (bourbon, sherry, Marsala) — silky, layered, and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Exceptionally long — lingering dried fruit, vanilla, gentle pot-still spice, dark caramel, soft Marsala warmth, and a slow warming oak depth fading gracefully — refined, mature, and beautifully composed.
