Highland Park 12 Year Old Viking Honour is the celebrated flagship of the Highland Park distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney — the northernmost Scotch whisky distillery in Scotland. Matured for at least 12 years in a combination of American ex-bourbon and Spanish ex-sherry casks. The brand draws on its Viking heritage in marketing and presentation.
Founded in 1798, Highland Park is one of the few distilleries still using its own malted barley, and remains one of the only distilleries to dry its barley over Orcadian peat — producing a distinctive heather-honey-and-light-smoke house character.
An accessible Island malt — neat or with a drop of water.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Aromatic and warmly composed — heather honey, gentle peat smoke, dried fruit, vanilla, soft caramel, gentle baking spice, and warm toasted oak — distinctive and beautifully composed.
PALATE
Smooth and rounded — heather honey, gentle smoke, sherried dried fruit, vanilla cream, soft caramel, dried apricot, and integrated multi-cask oak — silky and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Medium-long and warmly oaked — lingering honey, gentle smoke, dried fruit, vanilla, and a soft warmth fading slowly — distinctive and refined.
