Laphroaig 10 Year Old is the celebrated flagship of the iconic Laphroaig distillery on the southern coast of Islay — among the most distinctive heavily peated single malts in the world, with a maritime, medicinal character that polarises and devotes drinkers in equal measure. Matured for at least 10 years in American ex-bourbon casks.
Founded in 1815. Laphroaig is one of the few Scotch distilleries still malting its own barley on traditional floor maltings, and the only Scotch with the warrant of HRH The Prince of Wales (now King Charles III).
A definitive heavily peated Islay malt — neat or with a drop of water.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Bold and aromatic — intense peat smoke, medicinal iodine, sea salt, vanilla, gentle citrus, and warm toasted oak — distinctive and unmistakably Laphroaig.
PALATE
Full and warmly smoked — sweet smoke, medicinal iodine, sea salt, vanilla cream, soft caramel, gentle pepper, and integrated bourbon oak — bold, layered, and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Exceptionally long and smoky — lingering peat, sea salt, medicinal notes, vanilla, and a gentle warmth fading slowly — definitive Islay character.
