Mhoba Bushfire is a celebrated South African rum from the pioneering Mhoba Distillery in Mpumalanga. Made entirely from fresh sugarcane juice — never molasses — and aged in toasted ex-bourbon casks that have been further charred to deliver intensely smoky, caramelised character. The 'Bushfire' name reflects this fire-influenced cask treatment.
Founded by Robert Greaves in 2014, Mhoba is South Africa's first pure pot-still rum distillery and has rapidly become a cult favourite among rum connoisseurs globally. The distillery grows its own sugarcane on-site and processes it within hours of harvest — a level of vertical integration almost unheard of in modern rum production.
