Tamnavulin
Tamnavulin opened in 1966 in the hamlet of Tomnavoulin, on the banks of the River Livet near Ballindalloch. The name is said to mean "the mill on the hill" in Gaelic. Owned by Whyte & Mackay, the distillery reopened in 2007 after a twelve-year silence.
The whisky
After maturing in American ex-bourbon casks, the spirit is finished in casks that previously held Sauvignon Blanc white wine. The result is a polished amber whisky with fresh, floral notes. It was launched in the UK in April 2022 as part of Tamnavulin's Cask Editions range.
How to enjoy it
Serve it neat or lightly chilled over ice, or lengthen it with soda. The citrus and orchard fruit work well with seafood, soft cheeses and fruit tarts.
