The Balvenie's Cask Finishes range explores what different casks add to the distillery's honeyed spirit. The 12 Year Old Golden Cask was introduced in travel retail around late 2024, launching with a pop-up at Mumbai airport.
The whisky
After 12 years in ex-bourbon casks, the whisky is finished in casks seasoned with a blend of rums, some matured in the Caribbean and some aged in Scotland. Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie describes it as vibrant and tropical, yet complex.
How to enjoy it
Good neat, with a splash of water or over ice. It pairs well with banana bread, caramel desserts or tropical fruit.

Both are rum cask finishes. Golden Cask is a 12 year old travel retail bottling finished in casks seasoned with a blend of Caribbean-matured and Scotland-aged rums; Caribbean Cask is a 14 year old core bottling finished in casks seasoned with West Indian rums.
