The Balvenie 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask is a Speyside single malt matured for at least 14 years in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Caribbean rum casks selected and seasoned by Master Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE. The rum-cask finish lends tropical sweetness and brown-sugar depth to the long-aged Balvenie spirit.
Founded in 1892, family-owned, and one of the few distilleries growing its own barley. Stewart famously seasoned the Caribbean rum casks himself with a blend of West Indian rums before refilling them with Balvenie spirit.
An elegant sipping single malt — neat in a snifter to fully appreciate the rum-cask layering.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Aromatic and tropical — vanilla, honey, ripe banana, brown sugar, soft toffee, gentle spice, and warm toasted oak — distinctive and beautifully composed.
PALATE
Smooth and indulgent — honeyed banana, brown sugar, vanilla cream, soft caramel, gentle nutmeg, and integrated oak — silky and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Long and warmly tropical — lingering brown sugar, vanilla, soft fruit, and a gentle rum-cask warmth fading slowly — refined and beautifully composed.
