Rum cask finishing
Caribbean Cask is one of The Balvenie's best-known cask finishes. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE had a blend of West Indian rums laid down in American oak casks to season them before the whisky went in.
The whisky
After 14 years in traditional whisky oak, the spirit is finished in the rum-seasoned casks. The result is creamy and sweet, with toffee, vanilla and a fruity character that develops in the glass.
How to enjoy it
Good neat or with a little water, and it also works over ice. Try it with banana bread, sticky toffee pudding or tropical fruit.

Does it taste of rum?
Not directly. The rum-seasoned casks add sweetness, toffee and fruit notes rather than a rum flavour.
How is it different from the 12 Year Old Golden Cask?
Both are rum cask finishes. Caribbean Cask is 14 years old and part of the core range; Golden Cask is a 12 year old travel retail bottling whose casks were seasoned with a different rum blend.

Smooth and indulgent — honeyed banana, brown sugar, vanilla cream, soft caramel, gentle nutmeg, and integrated oak — silky and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Long and warmly tropical — lingering brown sugar, vanilla, soft fruit, and a gentle rum-cask warmth fading slowly — refined and beautifully composed.
