The Balvenie 15 Year Old Madeira Cask is a Speyside single malt initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Portuguese Madeira casks for added richness and dried-fruit depth. The fortified-wine finish gives a distinctive sweetness and complexity to the long-aged Balvenie spirit.
Founded in 1892, family-owned. The Madeira-cask finish is a classic example of the cask-finishing techniques Master Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE pioneered at Balvenie.
An elegant sipping single malt — neat in a snifter to fully appreciate the Madeira-cask layering.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Aromatic and warmly composed — honey, vanilla, dried fruit, sweet caramel, gentle floral notes, soft baking spice, and a touch of toasted oak — refined and beautifully composed.
PALATE
Smooth and rounded — honeyed dried fruit, vanilla cream, soft caramel, dried apricot, gentle leather, and integrated Madeira oak — silky and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Long and warmly oaked — lingering dried fruit, vanilla, soft caramel, and a gentle Madeira-cask warmth fading slowly — refined and beautifully composed.
