Crowned World's Best Single Malt 2025 at the World Whiskies Awards, the GlenAllachie 12 Year Old is the flagship expression of Master Distiller Billy Walker's founding philosophy: that exceptional wood is the single most important factor in creating superlative whisky. When Walker acquired GlenAllachie in 2017 alongside a vast inventory of aged stock, he immediately set about building a range embodying that conviction with meticulous care. The 12 Year Old — launched in 2018 — is the purest expression of that vision: matured in a complex four-cask combination of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, Oloroso sherry casks, virgin oak barrels, and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. The result is a whisky of extraordinary richness and depth for its age — full-bodied, dark, and sumptuously complex in a way that most twelve year old Speyside single malts simply cannot approach. , non-chill filtered, natural colour.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Rich and deeply inviting — dark chocolate, treacle, and heather honey open with cinnamon, espresso, sticky raisins, marzipan, cola, dark fruit, and a subtle lemon zest brightness — bold, complex, and beautifully composed for a twelve year old.
PALATE
Soft and sumptuously layered — marzipan and orchard fruit tones open into warming mocha, butterscotch, grated nutmeg, sultana, dark chocolate, caramel, and stem ginger — oily, full-bodied, and deeply satisfying throughout.
FINISH
Long and warmly spiced — dark sherry notes, rich coffee, chocolate, dates, sweet spices, and leather fading slowly with a lingering white pepper warmth — one of the most impressive finishes at this age and price point in all of Speyside.
