The French Oak Reserve
The Glenlivet 15 Year Old takes its name from the French Limousin oak used for part of its maturation. This oak is best known for maturing Cognac, and The Glenlivet use it to add richness and spice to their fruity house style.
The whisky
Only part of the whisky is matured in French oak, and the time it spends there is carefully controlled. The open grain of Limousin oak lets the spirit draw deeply from the wood, building a creamy, nutty character with gentle spice before it is combined with the rest of the batch.
How to enjoy it
Pour it neat at room temperature and give it a few minutes in the glass. A few drops of water bring out the sweet almond and fruit. It sits well after dinner with a cheese board or almond biscuits.
