The Sherry Oak style
Sherry-seasoned oak from Jerez de la Frontera has long been at the heart of The Macallan's character. The Sherry Oak collection is built on European oak casks that held sherry in Spain before travelling to Speyside to be filled with new make spirit.
The whisky
The 12 Year Old is the starting point of the collection. Macallan describe it as a classic, complex single malt with rich wood spice and dried fruits, a natural rich gold colour and a long, warming ginger finish.
How to enjoy it
Pour it neat at room temperature first, then try a few drops of water to open up the vanilla and dried fruit. It sits comfortably after dinner alongside dark chocolate or a slice of fruit cake.

How is Sherry Oak different from Double Cask?
Sherry Oak is matured in sherry-seasoned European oak, giving a richer, spicier style. Double Cask combines sherry-seasoned American and European oak, which brings more vanilla and a lighter, sweeter balance.

The Macallan redesigned its Sherry Oak and Double Cask packaging in 2025 and stated that the whisky within remains unchanged.
