An annual high-strength series
Classic Cut is The Macallan's yearly limited edition, bottled at a higher strength than the core range. The series began in 2017, and each edition is built from a different cask recipe, so no two years taste alike.
The 2024 edition
The eighth Classic Cut draws on sherry-seasoned European and American oak alongside ex-bourbon casks. The Macallan names its colour Estate Sunrise; at full strength vanilla and citrus peel lead, and with water tropical fruit and lemon step forward.
How to serve it
Try it neat, then add water a few drops at a time. The Macallan notes that bringing it down to around 40% shifts the profile towards tropical fruit and lemon.
