Named for the Six Pillars
The 'No. 6' refers to The Macallan's Six Pillars, the principles the distillery uses to describe itself: its spiritual home, curiously small stills, the finest cut, exceptional oak casks, natural colour and peerless spirit. Each facet of the Lalique decanter represents one of them.
The whisky
No. 6 was drawn entirely from first-fill sherry-seasoned Spanish oak casks, made by craftsmen in Jerez de la Frontera at a single cooperage. The colour comes naturally from the casks, and it is bottled at 43% ABV without an age statement.
Serving
Serve neat in a nosing glass and let it rest for a few minutes. This is a dessert-course whisky: rich fruit cake and spice, best on its own.

NOSE
Raisin, dates and figs lead, with sultana, toffee apple, dark chocolate and vanilla.
PALATE
Heavy and rich: fruit cake of raisin, dates, figs, apple and orange, then ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and a hint of clove over soft oak.
FINISH
Silky, long and full.
