Hakushu 18 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky – 70cl
Hakushu 18 Year Old is widely regarded as one of the finest Japanese single malts — aged for at least 18 years in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon, Spanish sherry, and Japanese mizunara oak casks at Suntory's "forest distillery" in the Southern Japanese Alps. Bottled at 43% ABV.
Hakushu 18 has won multiple international whisky awards. The extended maturation deepens the brand's lightly peated, herbaceous house character with rich layered complexity.
A definitive sipping Japanese single malt — neat in a copita.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Opulent and aromatic — gentle peat smoke, fresh herbs, sherried dried fruit, ripe orchard fruit, vanilla, dark caramel, gentle baking spice, mizunara spice, and warm toasted oak — luxurious and beautifully matured.
PALATE
Velvety and rich — gentle smoke, sherried dried fruit, honeyed orchard fruit, vanilla cream, dark toffee, dried apricot, gentle leather, mizunara spice, and integrated multi-cask oak — silky, layered, and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Exceptionally long — lingering gentle smoke, sherried dried fruit, vanilla, mizunara spice, dark caramel, and a slow warming oak depth fading gracefully — refined, mature, and distinctively forest-like.
