Ichiro's Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve Japanese Whisky - 70cl
The return of a legendary whisky from Ichiro Akuto, formerly of Hanyu distillery and now founder and distiller at Chichibu.
This is a blend of malt whiskies from his extensive stocks, including whisky matured in mizunara – fragrant Japanese oak. Outstandingly rare, with only very limited amounts available to the whisky industry to use to make casks, mizunara is uniquely fragrant and adds a refined and almost incense-like air to this whisky.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Aromatic and refined — freshly sliced apple, plum, sweet honey, gentle incense, sandalwood, and the distinctive mizunara Japanese-oak signature.
PALATE
Fruity and layered — concentrated apple, orange fruity sweetness, fragrant woodiness, refined grapefruit, white pepper cutting through, with the unmistakable Ichiro's Malt mizunara craftsmanship.
FINISH
Long and refined — sustained fruity sweetness, gentle white pepper, refined mizunara wood, and a polished Japanese-oak fade.
