Mhoba American Oak Aged Rum is a celebrated South African rum from the pioneering Mhoba Distillery in Mpumalanga. Made entirely from fresh sugarcane juice (never molasses) and matured in toasted American oak casks to develop refined oak character while preserving Mhoba's signature pure-pot-still purity.
Founded by Robert Greaves in 2014, Mhoba is South Africa's first pure pot-still rum distillery and has rapidly become a cult favourite among rum connoisseurs globally. The distillery grows its own sugarcane on-site and processes it within hours of harvest — a level of vertical integration almost unheard of in modern rum production.

TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Funky esters ( lipstick, nailpolish remover and paint thinner) swirl over last nights campfire fire charcoal. There’s also mashed over-ripe banana and over-ripe fruit
PALATE
Nice oily mouthfeel (pot still!). Lush tropical fruits in spades – paw-paw, banana, pineapple and a tangy passionfruit kick. The funk is subdued but definitely still there – adding an over-ripe sweetness to the mix. A very approachable, sweet palate on this one.
FINISH
Nice long and chewy finish. More of those funky esters play out as the fruit slowly fades. Very minimal pepper throughout and just a touch of wood-smoke re-appears as it’s done.
