Nikka Super Rare Old Blended Japanese Whisky – 70cl

$96.00 SGD $80.00 SGD

One of the most emotionally charged bottlings in the entire Japanese whisky canon — the Nikka Super Rare Old carries with it a story that goes to the very heart of Nikka's founding. Created in 1962 by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, as a personal tribute to his beloved Scottish wife Rita following her death that year, this blend is widely understood to be his finest and most heartfelt work — a whisky that channels the grief of losing the woman who had left Scotland to follow his dream, supported him through every hardship, and whose quiet strength and sacrifice made Nikka possible. In its earliest days, each bottle was hand-blown — a labour of love for a labour of love. Over six decades later, the Super Rare Old remains one of Nikka's most popular and enduring expressions, a testament to both the quality of the blend and the profound human story that gave it life.

The blend itself contains a high proportion of malt whisky from both Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, with Coffey grain whisky lending its characteristic creaminess and smoothness — all brought together in Nikka's tradition of precise, considered blending and bottled at 43% ABV in the instantly recognisable bottle shaped to evoke the form of a whisky pot still. Smooth, mellow, and gently complex — the Super Rare Old is a whisky of quiet confidence and enduring character.
