Jura 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 70cl
The Isle of Jura Distillery has been producing single malt since 1810 on one of Scotland's most remote and spectacular islands — home to just over 200 people and approximately 5,000 red deer, and accessible only by a single-track road and a small ferry from Islay. Jura's famously tall copper pot stills — among the tallest in Scotland — produce a characteristically light, elegant, and fruit-forward spirit that is the ideal canvas for the sherry and other cask finishes the distillery employs so effectively. The 18 Year Old is the most complex and satisfying expression in the standard Jura core range — eighteen years of carefully managed cask maturation delivering a whisky of considerably greater depth, richness, and tropical fruit character than the younger expressions. The distillery's characteristically tall stills have produced a spirit that opens beautifully with age, the fruit becoming richer and more layered with each passing year. TASTING NOTES
Nose: Creamy vanilla yoghurt with hints of hazelnut to start. A soft mineral note builds from underneath, pairing with sweet spiced bread, orange peel, brown sugar and white pepper. Toffee and milk chocolate truffle peek out at the end.
Palate: Soft spice grows, pushing its way through sponge cake and orchard fruit. Gentle notes of barrel char provide a background of smokiness, which builds over time. The smoke is balanced by dried fruit, dark chocolate and candied lemon.
Finish: The char lingers, with spiced studded orange peel and chocolate notes growing and then fading.
