Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage Japanese Whisky 50cl limited bottle

Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage - 50cl

$94.00 SGD

Forty years of one of the world's most beloved blended whiskies — and a release that genuinely honours that milestone rather than merely commemorating it. Created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Nikka From The Barrel's debut in 1985, the Extra Marriage takes the same iconic formula — more than 100 different batches of malt and grain whiskies from Yoichi and Miyagikyo, bottled at the precise 51.4% ABV that master blender Shigeo Sato and his team identified as the ideal strength to capture the fullness of the barrel — and gives it something that even its most devoted admirers had never experienced before: double the marriage time.

Where the standard From the Barrel rests in used oak casks at Nikka's Tochigi Aging Cellar for three months after blending — the process that gives it its characteristic mellowness and silky integration — the Extra Marriage extends this to a full six months. The result, while built on exactly the same foundation, is subtly but meaningfully transformed: softer on the nose, more deeply harmonised on the palate, with a longer, more refined finish that reveals new layers of dried fruit, toasted oak, and warmly integrated spice that the standard expression, magnificent as it is, only hints at. A limited release of just 6,900 bottles globally — a collector's bottle for any serious Nikka enthusiast.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE

Soft and mellow — rich chocolate, ripe fruit, and vanilla sweetness open with refreshing orange peel and malt sweetness, layered with warm caramel, dried apricot, toasted oak, vanilla custard, and subtle floral notes — noticeably rounder and more harmonised than the standard expression.

PALATE

Rich, full-bodied, and beautifully integrated — milk chocolate, roasted nuts, caramelised apple, honey, and baking spice with creamy vanilla, fine oak tannins, and a peppery warmth at the back of the tongue — bold at 51.4% yet remarkably smooth and mellow throughout.

FINISH

Long, warming, and more elegant than the standard release — dark chocolate, dried fig, lingering oak spice, nutmeg, clove, and a gentle woody bitterness fading slowly and deeply — the extended marriage process unmistakably present in every extra minute it stays with you.
