Signatory Vintage Ballechin 2010 is an independent bottling from the respected Edinburgh-based Signatory Vintage — owners of the Edradour distillery itself. Distilled at Edradour as the heavily peated Ballechin spirit (around 50ppm phenols) in 2010 and , non-chill-filtered.
Signatory Vintage acquired Edradour in 2002 and has long championed peated production at the historic Pitlochry distillery under the Ballechin name. A serious peating level uncommon in Highland whisky.
A bold peated Highland malt — neat or with a drop of water.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Bold and aromatic — peat smoke, ripe orchard fruit, vanilla, soft caramel, gentle baking spice, and warm toasted oak — concentrated and beautifully composed.
PALATE
Full and warmly smoked — sweet smoke, honeyed orchard fruit, vanilla cream, dark toffee, gentle pepper, leather, and integrated oak — bold, layered, and harmoniously balanced.
FINISH
Long and warmly smoked — lingering peat, vanilla, soft caramel, and a gentle peppery oak warmth fading slowly — distinctive and refined.
