The planning maths venues use, applied to a private guest count. Three numbers do all the work: a 75cl sparkling bottle gives 6 toast pours, a 75cl wine bottle gives 5 glasses, and a 70cl spirits bottle gives about 15 cocktails at 45ml each.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many bottles of wine do I need for 50 guests?
About 25 bottles across an evening, working on roughly half a bottle per guest. A 75cl bottle pours five glasses, so 25 bottles gives around 125 glasses.
How much Champagne or Prosecco do I need for a wedding toast?
One 75cl bottle gives six toast pours, so 50 guests needs about 9 bottles and 100 guests about 17. Order a little over if the sparkling is also being served on arrival.
How many cocktails does one bottle of spirits make?
About 15, based on a 70cl bottle and a standard 45ml pour. For a party bar, stock at least three or four different spirits so guests have a choice rather than buying depth in one.
What spirits should a home bar start with?
