Carruades de Lafite 2017- 75cl
$700 – $3,990
After a rather mild winter, spring was marked by the nights of frost on April 26 and 27, during which the Bordeaux vineyards were hard hit. Miraculously, Lafite emerged unscathed.
The conditions then became excellent with warm temperatures, higher than normal, and balanced and well-positioned precipitation. The flower arrived early and in mid-June we were almost 15 days ahead of average fruit set.
After a good episode of rain at the end of June, the temperatures, without being cold, remained below normal throughout the summer.
This allowed us to lose this excess advance and the maturation took place slowly and perfectly between mid-véraison and mid-September, the date of the start of the harvest.
An episode of rain, from September 10 to 20, disturbed a serene climate, generating more comments than real damage.
During a classic 20-day vatting, the wines quickly affirmed their potential and their fairly classic character.
TASTING NOTE (at bottling):
Beautiful dark red dress. The nose is seductive, offering a beautiful aromatic palette combining notes of liquorice, red fruits and tobacco. The attack is pleasant, and the wine is full and ample in the mouth without any aggressiveness, which may surprise given its youth. Nice balance throughout the tasting with a long and always harmonious finish.
Grape Type:
- Cabernet Sauvignon 65%,
- Merlot 30%,
- Cabernet Franc 5%.
