At the dawn of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the acquisition of Château Lafite by the Rothschild family, our teams had to face major challenges in the face of a capricious climate.
From December to July, the incessant rains favored the development of mildew and the risk of hail. Summer only really started in mid-July with very high temperatures, sometimes extreme, which allowed us to rebalance the vineyard in good sanitary condition and thus lead us on the way to a great vintage.
An effort was particularly made for this year 2018 in the Carruades vineyard to improve the selection of batches. Everything has been done to achieve more precision and potential in the final assembly.
TASTING NOTE (AT BOTTLING):
Beautiful dark and deep color. The nose reveals, despite its recent bottling, complexity accompanied by a nice freshness. Discreet on the palate at first, the wine has a very nice fullness with precise and harmonious tannins. The Cabernet Franc, which played a decisive role in the blend, brings a very precious freshness to this vintage. A wine which will be perfectly open within 10 years but which has a much longer aging potential.
